| PACKAGE IT RIGHT AND CUSTOMERS WILL COME |

Packaging is important. If you have ever shopped for bubble bath or wrapped candies or even a spatula, you know how important packaging is in getting your attention and enticing you to buy. When developing private label products, it is common for people to think about ways to save money. The objective, after all, is to make money. The lower the cost to develop and package the product, the more profit there is for the producer. However, packaging costs the same whether it looks good or it looks bad so putting some time and energy into creating exciting and desirable looking packaging is critical to the private-label development process.
Packaging that looks right
At Impulse Products we innately understand this and we have a few tips to help you. When developing packaging for your private label products consider: · What does it look like? If you saw that packaging from a store shelf or hanging on a rack, would you grab the product because you're interested in it based on how the packaging looks?
· What colors are in the packaging? Research has shown again and again that consumers are attracted to bright colors. While you might be partial to drab greens, or neutral tones, when it comes to marketing and brand development, expert knowledge is that consumers like bright colors. Look at the colors on the products in your own home. Do you find that there are more bright colors like blue, red, and yellow? This is because we are attracted to these colors and are more likely to grab a product off the shelf when it has these colors.
· What kind of packaging should you pick? Some products might be best packaged in cellophane that makes a crunchy sound when placed into a shopping cart. Other products might best be shrink wrapped or packaged in cardboard. The kind of product you’re packaging will partly determine its packaging, but some of the decision making is also left to the product developer.
So often we get caught up in the fine details of developing new things, that we forget some of the larger picture. That is, you might have spent a good deal of time developing your private label products that Impulse Products will help you market, but if you spend little or no time or energy developing the packaging, you're doing yourself no favors. It is critically important that you are willing to spend some time creating a solid package that will attract the consumer, encourage them to put a product into their basket, and make that purchase.
