| SHARE THE LOVE |
|
We recently did and have never felt better!
The corporate world these days can be a really rough place. With the recession that has hit the economy, businesses have become even more concerned with protecting their own interests to prevent being swept away in the sea of bankruptcies. However, as tempting as it is to be aggressive and forceful in this type of an economy, it’s important to remember that the business life, as well as one’s own personal life, isn’t always about the money. Businesses that are run with the strict intention of boosting often suffer in the long run as people tend not to want to support a company that doesn’t use their profits to give back to the community. As such there are many benefits to “sharing the love” so to speak, but the question then becomes: how does one share the love?
Firstly, it’s important to understand that not everyone has the same skillset. For example, we at Impulse Products are excellent at marketing, product development, sourcing and so on. That doesn’t mean we can write mean, fast computer code. We won’t create the iPhone 5 or the Xbox 720. What we will do is help transform your business and take it to heights that you never thought were possible. But we also use that to give back to the community – to help people get chances that they never thought were possible. And that’s such a cool opportunity that we have to make a positive difference in the world.
That brings us to our second point, making a difference helps everyone feel better. It makes you and your employees feel good. It’s sometimes hard to keep team spirit high and sharing the love, so to speak, can help provide a foundation for a common goal that brings the team together and makes people work better together. Consider charities like Habitat for Humanity – these are complete strangers that are brought together with one common goal, to build houses for underprivileged people. These people almost instantly work together as a team to make these goals a reality.
Giving people a common goal outside of that of your business’ main focus can bolster team morale and spirit in ways that you never thought were possible. But more importantly, you can make a very positive difference in the life of one or more individuals. And while, as a business owner, you’re clearly looking to boost your profits, sometimes life needn’t be all about the money. Leaving a positive legacy on the world is worth more than any amount of money, and it’s important that your enterprise be responsible in the corporate community. More and more your corporate survival is dependent upon it, and it can make everyone involved in your organisation feel a sense of pride and esteem working for you.
